WTH? Is Wrong with the Weather

I want to first apologize for not writing in so long but I have been so busy with Summer School classes and this heat has been knocking my arse out.  My city was the hottest in China a few days ago… 104.5 F/40.5 C … Craziness I tell you.

I work at a language school, not a public school in China.  The pay is higher but the schedule is a pain in the arse.  I work 6 days a week about 10 to 12 hours a day… (this is the way it works in China in the summer) actually that is how I work every day for the last 4 1/2 years. Oh and those hours are from afternoon to-night.  So, I am a vampire too..

This year has been worse than others…. more students and more heat.   We really need to stop messing with the environment we are burning up the earth I tell you.

I even came down with the heat sickness they get around here…. vomiting, diarrhea, fever, sweats and just play crappy feeling.  It lasted a couple of days….. there was not enough Imodium in the world to cure this mess.

I have realized that since I have been in China my body has gotten weaker, and weaker.   Maybe it is the food or the lack of sports… or just China air… but I am not as strong as I was before I can feel….

Well, I just wanted to give you guys an update on what was going on with me… but I will be back into the groove of things shortly .. with some interesting stories about my summer school students and the teachers.   Thanks for hanging with me guys…… I will be back with a vengeance… as soon as I can find a way to beat this damn heat.

  1. Good morning, Jo

Thank you for your email address. I just send you a list of interview questions. I always love stories and I believe my visitors will also love to learn from you. Take care and hope you get well soon…and I hope the weather is not too crazy over there because I will take my daughter fly to Beijing at Sunday. It’s her first time…

It’s been crazy hot here in Beijing too. I thought I was the only one that’s experienced a decline in health since living in China. Before I moved to Beijing in 2006 I was a feeling great and not taking any medication at all. Now,I am taking beta-blockers,high blood pressure medication, losing my hair and overall just feel tired and weak most of the time….I think that China can be a stressful place to live so don’t wear yourself out working so hard and take time to relax and enjoy life a bit more, placing your health above all things. BTW with those mad hours you’re working you might as well open your own language school.

    1. Not so easy to open language school in China for a foreigner…. and I still have to over come visa issues… but one day maybe…. Language school hours are like that….. that is why the pay is higher… than public school. I check my blood and health every year… for my visa… so I know where I am… I also have to keep up on my blood pressue meds… so i am on top of it…. thanks for worrying….

It is hot here too Jo! The temps have been in the very high 90’s for a while then for about a week and a half in the 3 digits! Not a creature was stirring, seriously!

Stay hydrated with water and cold tea like ginger to combat nausea! In this type of heat, everyone will feel listless with no strength or energy. Here in the midwest, the low temps are…get this…in the 90’s in the late p.m. and in the low to high 80’s in the very early a.m. with humidity!

I concur with the previous commentor’s experience John Lee. It’s a dirty shame when someone laughs and ignores truths regarding the environment for greedy gain, while the rest of us suffer behind their stupidity! The native American Indians warned these folks early on about respecting the land, water, and earth. Yet, these fools have added ‘fork brain’ to fork tongue!

  5. I thought you had your own business? Can’t you decide your working hours? But anyway, heat does make you lethargic so you have to be careful. And if you’re not eating enough protein and iron in China, you might be anemic. I just had a health check done and they said I was in danger of randomly passing out because my iron and B vitamin levels were so low. I felt tired and weak too, but I thought I was just not getting enough sleep. Make sure you get that checked out, because you can only know by a blood test, not a regular check up!

    1. Nope .. Tokeri.. dont have own school…. I do have my own side trade business… but the school is my cash cow .. right now.. and due to summer classes.. it is the busiest time of the year…. I do a regular full check up every year… for my Chinese visa.. includes blood work, heart scan, x rays.. ultra sounds .. the works… no worries..

    Hi Jo
I hate to say this but the weather is changing all over, most of the USA is real hot the pass few weeks, we have hurricane in the southern Pacific Ocean, we have small twister here, we never have this before, the earth is changing, some of this due to human being pollution all over world, the cutting down of all the trees in certain forest, is like destroying the planet we live in, there no turning back, damage been down. I remember I talked to my boss about this when I was working in the law firm, he laugh at me and think I’m crazy, that was 15 years ago, now is happening all over, this will affect food that we plant, animal, birds and sea life, most of all human life too

  9. It’s midnight here in New York, and it’s 82 degrees. I hate hot weather. I barely eat (I’ve lost 12 pounds so far) It just makes you feel drained and lethargic. Make sure you stay hydrated and get enough rest.

Please get well soon. I live in a region where we are having unusually hot weather too. I am beginning to wonder what is up with this planet as well.

  11. Take care of yourself, sister. It is always good to drink more water too to prevent dehydration. I live in the tropics where it is hot and sunny all year round, and I need to drink plenty of water too. I enjoy reading your blogs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us – they are enriching and interesting.
