My New Gig

Hey boys and girls…. just wanted to give you an update on what’s happening in my world.  Things have been a bit hectic.  I have decided to take on some side jobs to make extra money.  I have been doing my fashion business and some voice-acting but now I have added writing subtitles to the mix.

Yeah, I write subtitles for movies, tv shows, and radio shows.  It sounds exciting but it took me about 6 hours to figure out how to use the system. It was of course in Chinese.  Then the actual writing of subtitles for a one hour show takes you about 4 to 5 hours.  So, you can imagine what it would take to write subs for a movie.

But it pays well, and I kind of like that on my resume.  Subtitle writer … sound cool.

In other news… I am still doing the App content writing, online teaching, and App teaching… and still have a few more chapters in my book to finish.  We did have a little tragedy… My husband’s grandmother is terribly ill.  The doctors say she doesn’t have very long. She is 94 years old but she is the only mother figure my husband ever had… so it is a little tough. But we are getting through it.

My daughter is starting a custom-made wig business in the states, so I have been mentoring her and helping her get things going and my son still has people paying him to watch him play computer games online.  I will never understand why but it’s what the kids are doing these days.

Tomorrow night is a big Halloween party.. so I will have a lot to tell…

until next time…

    Hi Jo,

I get tired reading about all the things you do. I do transcription (and just started doing captions) on the side for extra money and its about like subtitling. One hour of audio (IF its good quality) can take about the same about time.

Sorry to hear about your hubby’s grandmother. Losing a mother, grandmother or a mother figure, I feel, is some of the hardest things to go through. But what a blessing for them to have each other, and for his grandmother’s long life.

Congratulations on your new gig, sounds great! You’re one hard working woman! And I’m glad that your kids are doing well.

    Be well.

  3. Omg, I sincerely hope your husband gets more time with his grandmother. There is a special bond there no other can replace. But great that you’re getting your hand in as many pots as possible, so to speak. It’s great and opportunities will flow in abundance. Peace and blessings to you and your beautiful family!
